In the page of our online biography on Beethoven's childhood we also encountered the actor and musician Tobias Friedrich Pfeiffer as one of Beethoven's teachers.  In his time table, Klaus Kropfinger ascribes these lessons to the year 1779.  With respect to them, Ley featured this report by Mäurer: 

"Pfeiffer war damals beim Theater als Tenorist angestellt, ein fertiger Klavierspieler und ausgezeichneter Oboist.  Er wurde ersucht, Louis Unterricht zu geben.  Dazu wurde aber keine ordentliche Zeit festgesetzt; oft, wenn Pfeiffer mit Beethovens Vater in einer Weinschenke bis elf oder zwölf gezecht hatte, ging er mit ihm nach Hause, wo Louis im Bette lag und schlief; der Vater rüttelte ihn ungestüm auf, weinend sammelte sich der Knabe und ging ans Klavier, wo Pfeiffer bis zum frühen Morgen bei ihm sitzen blieb, da er das ungewöhnliche Talent desselben erkannte; vielleicht brachte er ihm einige aus Kürnberger geschöpfte Kenntnisse bei.  Nach einem Jahr mußte Pfeiffer Bonn verlassen, und Louis konnte nun ruhig schlafen.  . . . -- "At that time, Pfeiffer was engaged as a tenor singer at the theatre, and he was an able piano player and an excellent oboist.  He was asked to give Louis lessons.  However, with respect to this, no regular times were set; often, when when Pfeiffer had stayed at a tavern with Beethoven's father until eleven o'clock at night or until midnight, he went home with him, where Louis lay in bed; his father rattled him awake, the boy collected himself, crying, and went to the piano, where Pfeiffer sat with him until the morning, since he recognized the unusual talent in him; perhaps, he taught him some knowledge from Kürnberger.  After a year, Pfeiffer had to leave bonn, and Louis could sleep calmly, again").
